Enterprise customers: Put your existing Azure budget to work for document automation
What does MACC-eligible mean?
The Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) is a pre-agreed budget that is negotiated between a company and Microsoft at the time of contract signing. This agreement stipulates that a minimum budget must be invested in Azure within a defined period of time.
In return, companies benefit from financial advantages and simplified procurement processes.
This budget can also be used for selected offers from the Azure Marketplace, provided they are designated as benefit-eligible. COGNAiO® Cloud Extract meets this requirement. Billing is consolidated through the Azure portal.
Why is this relevant?
A Practical Example
A company had designated Azure as its platform as part of a cloud tendering process. The Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft was therefore in place and the MACC terms had been agreed upon. The Operations department subsequently sought a solution for automated document processing.
After clarifying internal requirements, the team reviewed the Azure Marketplace and found COGNAiO® Cloud Extract as a benefit-eligible offering. A Private Offer was arranged with suitable terms regarding contract duration and volume, and the purchase was conveniently handled through the consolidated Microsoft invoice.
Onboarding into the existing Azure tenant then commenced, including Single Sign-On, storage connection, and integration into the existing governance policies.
Go-live was achieved in a fraction of the time that a traditional software tendering process would have required. At the same time, the investment was directly applied to the MACC budget.

Expert Tip
If Azure is already established in your organization and you are evaluating an IDP solution, filter in the Azure Marketplace for “Eligible for Azure Consumption Commitment“. This way you will find COGNAiO® Cloud Extract directly as a benefit-eligible offering and ensure that the purchase is applied to your MACC commitment.
Involve Procurement, Finance, and your Microsoft Account Manager at an early stage. A Private Offer with an aligned contract duration and volume tiers accelerates internal approval and optimizes the terms.
Then start with a clearly defined use case and measure pre-defined KPIs. This creates early visibility for the success of the project.
FAQ
Do I need MACC for Try & Buy?
No. MACC only affects the credit allocation.
Does my Marketplace purchase count toward the MACC?
If an offering is benefit-eligible and processed accordingly, the purchase can be applied to your commitment. Details depend on your individual contract.
Direct Purchase vs. Private Offer – which one is right for you?
Both are possible. Private Offers allow for individual terms (pricing, volume, contract duration) and can also be eligible for credit when designated as benefit-eligible.
Where can I see the credit allocation?
In the Azure portal under Cost Management & Billing (contract duration, remaining balance, booked events). Marketplace purchases appear consolidated on the Microsoft invoice.
Do I need a separate tendering process for the software?
That depends on your internal procurement policy. With Azure as the commissioned platform, the Marketplace route is often the fastest path.
How quickly can we go live?
Typically within a few weeks, depending on data availability, process complexity, and integrations.
